G.P.P. training program 3rd August -9th August 2020

Welcome back and isn’t it great?

So how are you all finding the new set up and timetable? And much more importantly how are you all feeling? We have had some feedback about trouble with stairs, getting on and off the toilet and putting object into cupboards above eyelevel. We did warn you many many times. For most of us been a while and the magic word to start with is consistency.

This week’s training program is very similar to week 2, that is the idea we can all begin to get use to moving, lifting some weight (sensible please) get our breathing into shape, get used to doing a good volume of work in 45-50min and of course working out with others.

Week 3. Good luck

Monday. Cleans

Tuesday. Squat and Pull

Wednesday. Snatch

Thursday. Other programs

Friday. Deadlift and push

Saturday. Heavy breathing

Sunday. Other programs

Gymnastics programming – August

Posted 29th July 2020 by Anthony Masters

Hello everyone,

This will be short & sweet, my guess is during these last few months many of us have either not been doing too many serious pull ups & dips (the foundation to most gymnastics skills) or put on some extra kilos making that stuff much more harder. So the program for august is a focus on bringing back the basics, it’s well suited for the beginners as well as advanced guys. There is a first portion of muscle up practice for those that still have em and want to clean them up, but if you don’t then i’ll be running through some baby exercises to bulletproof the shoulder & elbow joint that will carryover over nicely to all other gymnastic skills. I will monitor how the class flows over the next couple of weeks, especially time management and make any additions/ modifications. Hopefully add some more play time and some conditioning at the end for those that want it, but for the time being this is the main content of the program. (more…)

GPP training program 27th – 2nd August 2020

Posted 26th July 2020 by Geoff Stewart

Welcome back and isn’t it great?
As we hope you’re all aware we are running a slightly different set up, timetable and program at the moment due to this thing called Corona. Our GPP program is exactly what is says, General Physical Preparedness. Our aim in this first 1-3 weeks is to get you all back into the groove. Allow you to get used to working with a barbell again, getting you use to breathing heavy, putting those foundation back in place and most importantly not breaking anyone.

This week’s training program is aimed at dusting down those barbell movements, getting you use to working with some load and getting you back into the groove. This doesn’t just mean in the gym it also means you’ll need to start looking in more detail at your nutrient through the day and around training, your water intake, resetting your sleep patterns and most importantly listening to your bodies again.
Week 2. Good luck

Monday. Cleans

Tuesday. Squat and Pull

Wednesday. Snatch

Thursday. Other programs

Friday. Deadlift and push

Saturday. Heavy breathing

Sunday. Other programs

GPP training program 26th July 2020

Posted 24th July 2020 by Geoff Stewart

We finally sliding open the big steel doors and opening the wobble glass door we are opening on the Saturday 26th July. It’s about F***** time too.

Our new GPP (working title) class will follow the same format we have been road testing for the last few years with great success.  As we regularly state, Momentum training follows what we call a GPP program (general physical preparedness) ie our aim Is to get you fitter, stronger, healthy, physically and mentally and ready for what the world might have to throw at you.

Consistency, frequency and intensity is the mantra we regularly chirp. You need to turn up to begin with. You then need to turn up on a regularly basis and then you need to begin to work a harder. This might be sounding a little bit simple, but it doesn’t need to be complicated, we can over complicate it if needed. Leave the complication to us and focus on what in front of you.

Our new class: GPP. (Working title) Program
