Momentum Spotlight: Chelsea Reardon

1. Have you ever had a nickname? What was it and how did you get it?
No. Though apparently Chelsea is an exhaustingly long first name, it gets shortened to Chels almost immediately by EVERYONE.

2. Whats your favourite Momentum class and why?
I like all the classes that aren’t Jen-Con classes. Why? Because she is mean. It’s always the quiet ones. I do like a good 7am class. If it’s 7, and a week day, I’m in.

3. Whats is that tattoo on your arm? Is there a story behind it that you would like to share?
Ahh the ‘I broke up with my ex and knew a tattooist, tattoo’. I split with my ex so clearly the first thing I did was get a tattoo. It’s loosely based on the Taurus bull horns (star sign tat – awesome). I do on occasion forget it’s there and think I have a spider on my arm. So that’s working out well.

4. What changes have you noticed since you started the training with Momentum?
I now answer the standard question ‘Hey Chels, how are you?’ with ‘Good thanks. I’m strong now.’ NB to self, stop doing this. I also make people feel my ass, because now I have one. NB #2 to self, stop doing this.

5. Whats your most favourite and least favourite exercise, and why?
Currently my favourite is deadlifts, for the most part because I can deadlift my body weight. That’s ACE. Least favourite is double unders. Don’t like them. Can’t do them. Don’t want to practice them. EVER. I really wish Geoff would stop making me before classes. Please and thank you.

Momentum Spotlight: Adam Pickrell

1. Have you ever had a nickname? What was it and how did you get it?
Yes, my nickname was Chuckles. I used to be a bit of a big boy back in the day (see attached very funny fat photo), I was 13 years old and 96kgs! Luckily I got into rugby and girls and lost the weight…!

2. Whats your favourite Momentum class and why?
Favourite class has to be CrossFit. It’s always so varied and I like the structure. The warm up, strength, capacity and then the WOD to kick your ass at the end!

3. Whats your favourite tattoo? Is there a story behind it that you would like to share?
My favourite tattoo is the dragon on my leg. There are no meanings behind them, I just like getting them done and the way they look. One of the first tattoos I got was one on my upper shoulder when I was 20. I had this done in Thailand, it was a 24 hour tattoo shop in a tree house 20ft up. I’d may have taken a few mushrooms and thought it would be good idea to get a tattoo at 10am in the morning. I was gripping my chair tightly the whole time thinking I was going to fall out of the tree.

4. What changes have you noticed since you started training with Momentum?
My strength, skills and fitness have improved massively since doing CrossFit. I do a lot of cycling and that’s where I have especially noticed my fitness developing the most.

5. Whats your most favourite and least favourite exercise, and why?
My favourite exercise is the sled push and pull. There is something really satisfying about running up and down the track with a load of weight on! The most frustrating exercise are double unders. I can do one double but stringing multiple together is the challenge!
