The London Box Battles – Round 3

It’s a shame to report that CrossFit North London has decided to withdraw from the 2014 competition.  We hope to see them back in 2015.

final_logoRound 3: Event Format

Round 3 of The London Box Battles will be an individual event with the following breakdown:

Battle 3: Number of athletes

Group A. 4 male and 4 female athletes (total 8)

Group B. 16 athletes in total (any number of guys/girls)

Group C. 10 athletes in total (any number of guys/girls)

Max athletes from each box = 34

Group A: The top CrossFit athletes from each box.  The guys and girls who fancy themselves as competitive athletes and who want to compete against the best London has to offer.

Group B: CrossFit athletes that are training for general health and fitness and don’t want to compete with the big guns.  Most of these athletes will have been doing CrossFit for over 12 months.  This groups WODs will be slightly scaled to suit the level of fitness.

Group C: First time competitors or athletes that have been doing CrossFit for less than 12 months.   Again these WODs will be scaled to suit the level of fitness.

Battle 3: Head Judge and Judges

Each box will be required to supply judges on the day.  Please note that the hosting box will also supply a HEAD judge who will have the responsibility of making sure the standards of judging are the same for each athlete.  The head judge will have the final say on the movement standards being judged.

Qualifiers and Teams

Each individual box has the responsibility of selecting their own teams and making sure all athlete are capable of the movements required.  Qualification WODS are optional and determined by the number of athletes wanting to compete from each box.  Please note all teams MUST be submitted by no later than October 1st.

The London Box Battles in more that an individual event.  The box that come out on top will have the best average of athletes across all groups A,B and C.   Gather up your troops and work together to increase your chance of scoring maximum points towards the ladder.

WODS

WOD 1: SQUATATHLON

Groups A, B and C

:60sec MAX Back Squats Output – choose a weight

:60sec rest

:60sec MAX Front Squat Output – choose a weight

:60sec rest

:60sec MAX Overhead Squat Output – choose a weight

 

Each athlete will select how much weight they wish to move for each exercise.  The weight for each exercise can be different, you can not change the weight during the exercise.  If you set 40kg for the back squat you are not allowed to change the back squat weight to 30kg.  During the first minute of rest you can then set a different weight for the front squat.  After completing the front squat you can select a different weight for the OHS.
Total score is:

(Back Squat Weight on the bar x total reps in :60sec) +

(Front Squat Weight on the bar x total reps in :60sec) +

(Overhead Squat Weight on the bar x total reps in :60sec)

Minimum male weight: 20kg

Minimum female weight: 15kg

One male and one female from each box will compete in a final WOD.

P1 must complete a full round before P2 can start.  Each team can choose to put the male or female first.
